ACCEA Clinical Excellence Awards 2010

Dear BAETS member,

Re: 2010 ACCEA Clinical Excellence Awards

Submissions for the 2010 round of ACCEA are now imminent.

As a professional organisation the BAETS is entitled to support candidates in
proportion to the size of our membership.  The time frame for the award
process has been brought forward by ACCEA.

The online application to ACCEA does not have to be in until 5:00pm on Friday 11th
December 2009.

The supporting societies, however, have to submit their ranking list to the RCS and ASGBI by September 9th 2009.

The BAETS sub-committee is chaired by Professor Zyg Krukowski, Ex-President of the BAETS. The BAETS will only consider supporting members who actively participate in the National Audit.

If you would like BAETS to consider your nomination for support please submit the
initial assessment form by our deadline of midnight Friday August 28th 2008. Completed forms should be sent to Z.H.Krukowski@arh.grampian.scot.nhs.uk

Any late submissions will NOT be considered.

Unfortunately the results of the 2009 awards allocation will not be
available until August 2009.

Forms for the 2010 awards are not yet available please submit your application to BAETS on the 2009 forms.

The initial application form can be downloaded from:
http://www.dh.gov.uk/ab/ACCEA/Awardsround/index.htm

Click the link on the left entitled "employer-based (local) clinical
excellence awards". You will then be able to download the 2009 local
forms which can be used for our initial internal assessment purposes.

Here are a few unwritten guidelines,

You are unlikely to get an award within the first 10 years of
appointment as a Consultant

You are unlikely to achieve a higher award without the full
support of the Chief Executive of your Trust. In addition you should
have already obtained 5 or 6 local discretionary points.

You are unlikely to receive a higher national award within 5
years of your present national award.

Good Luck!
